About Granada

Granada is located next to the Sierra Nevada mountains in Andalusia in the southeast of Spain. It is about 70 km from the coast. Granada gives the unique opportunity to visit both the highest mountain in continental Spain (above 3400 m) and the sunny beaches of the Costa del Sol. How to reach Granada

By plane: The Granada airport, at only 15 minutes drive from Granada downtown is connected with several European cities by daily flights. The Malaga airport, at 130 km from Granada (90 minutes by bus approximately), serves most European and American destinations.

  • For those arriving at Granada airport: the fastest way into the city is to take a taxi. The cost is about 25 euros from the airport to downtown Granada. For those on a budget and with patience there is a regular bus service (To the right end of the terminal as you exit), which takes you to the city center for 3 euros. The journey should take less than 1 hour. From the stop at Palacio de Congresos to Hotel Abades a taxi will cost about 6 euros. From the stop at the Bus Station, you can take the urban bus number 10 (direction  Palacio de Deportes) that will take you to the Hotel Abades (ask to the driver). From the stop at the Cathedral, you can take the urban bus number 4 (direction Torre de la Polvora) that will take you to the Hotel Abades (ask to the driver).
  • For those arriving at Malaga airport: there are direct buses from Málaga airport to Granada bus station. They leave at 11:30 in the morning and 18:30 in the afternoon. The journey takes 2 hours 20 minutes and a one-way ticket costs 10€. If you arrive at another time, it is faster to catch a bus from Málaga airport to Málaga bus station and then catch a bus to Granada. There are buses to Málaga bus station every 30 minutes and buses to Granada every hour. The journey takes about 2 hours and costs 10€. It is difficult to get to Granada after 21:30.

By train: The train station is fairly central. The Spanish National Railway Company (RENFE) has a good website giving full information in English about trains in Spain.

By bus: There are many buses everyday to the other large Spanish cities. The bus station is slightly out of town but there are taxis and frequent city buses to get to the center.

By car: Granada is well communicated by freeway road with all main Spanish cities. It takes about 5 hours from Madrid and 90 minutes from Málaga.

Hotel booking

We recommend you to book via the registration form in the 4* Abades Nevada Palace Hotel for practical reasons: the conference will be held in this hotel and special fares are offered to the participants (65 euros for a single room and 75 for a double room). If you prefer to stay in another hotel, you can book it yourself or ask for help to the administrative contact (congresosgranada@viajeseci.es), but keep in mind that the conference venue is about 25-30 minutes from the city center.
